SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) – The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department dealt with numerous vehicles in ditches overnight. I-43 southbound had to be shut down shortly after 3 Monday morning from County XX at Cleveland because of a crash. Lt. Larry Perronne says a jackknifed semi was blocking both lanes of traffic. That was cleaned up shortly before 5am.
The Sheriff’s department called in extra county highway crew and deputies to deal with the snowfall. Some spots reporting up to 3 inches of snow in the county. The sheriff’s department is reporting that the wind blowing over the snow was causing it to crystalize a bit, and keep things slick.
Another round of wintry weather rolls in on Tuesday. Heavy snow is expected to again move over the area from the southwest Tuesday morning, with snowfall rates expected to exceed 1″ per hour with the first round of snow. It could again transition to a rain/snow/sleet mix with the possibility of icing before the system moves out.
