With the last report of the week on Thursday, the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health headed into the holidays with a mixed report on the coronavirus pandemic in Sheboygan County.
The past week has been one of ups-and-downs on the active case count, with Thursday one for the “down” category. The active case count dropped 82 since Wednesday to 1,084, as 4 new positives were overwhelmed by 86 recoveries. Sheboygan County has averaged 1,088 active cases each of the last 4 days. 1,084 cases in all have been recorded here during the pandemic, and 182 deaths have resulted. 35 persons are currently hospitalized, four more than on Wednesday with the admission of five, and discharge of one patient.
Sheboygan County continues to experience a “high” level of community transmission, with 483.79 new cases recorded in the past 7 days, on a per-100,000 basis in order to evenly compare with other counties in the state. The percent of tests returning positive for COVID-19 was not revised since Wednesday, with 14.04% reported.
103 more persons received their first vaccination, increasing that number in the County to 69,441, or 60.3%. 57.1% have been fully vaccinated with the addition of 73 more persons having completed their series. That now amounts to 65,763 persons.
