After a rare December tornado outbreak ravaged several states, a Sheboygan County conservation club and the public wasted no time in helping out.
The Winooski Bowmens Club paired with Feucht Trucking company and organized the efforts to send much-needed emergency supplies to Mayfield, Kentucky, described as ground-zero for storms that destroyed or damaged more than 1,000 buildings with winds up to 160 miles an hour. The death toll from the December 10th event may eventually reach over 100 in Kentucky alone.
Thanks to publicity and strong public response, the effort filled two 53-foot semis with non-perishable food, water, blankets, baby supplies and personal items which headed south on Monday.
Club members John Saladini and County Administrator Adam Payne thanked the public for their outpouring of donations and volunteers.
