The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County has reached a new high for the year, with 1,166 persons now battling the coronavirus. That’s up 72 since Tuesday, and compares with 1,245 on this date a year ago. 150 new positive tests pushed the running case total here to 20,733, while another 78 persons recovered. The 182 deaths to date compares to 86 on this date a year ago.
8 new patients were recorded as 16 recovered, and 31 are currently hospitalized in Sheboygan County. 1,022 persons in all have needed hospital treatment here during the pandemic.
The Level of Community Transmission here is considered “High” at 483.79 per 100,000 population, and 14.04% of tests since Tuesday were positive for the coronavirus, a gain of just over one-half of a percent.
Sheboygan County is now experiencing a “Critically High” Case Activity Level, as are more than half of all counties in the state. The Burden, or total number of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population in Sheboygan County in the last two weeks, is 1,164, compared with 1,065.4 last week at this time. There was no significant change in trajectory.
141 more persons received their first dose of vaccine in the last day, raising that total to 69,338 persons, or 60.2% of the county population. 143 more completed their series of shots, bringing the total of fully vaccinated individuals to 65,690, or 57%.
