The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County have reached another high mark for 2021, with 1,158 now being monitored by the Division of Public Health, the most since December 23, 2020 when 1,214 cases were noted. 133 new positives were recorded since Monday, along with 63 recoveries, raising the active count by 70. 20,137 cases in all have been recorded here during the pandemic.
There are now 32 persons hospitalized for treatment of COVID-19 symptoms in Sheboygan County, one more than on Monday. 9 persons were admitted for treatment while 8 were discharged. 1,004 persons have now required hospitalization in Sheboygan County.
The level of community transmission in Sheboygan County is considered “high”, with a rate unchanged from Monday at 495.93 per 100,000 persons. The percent of tests coming back positive was up from Monday at wit 13.16%, a 0.8% gain.
Vaccination rates reported on Tuesday took leaps upwards, possibly the result of data that had been stalled by an update in the State’s reporting system making it to final accounting. The number of those receiving at least one shot was up 1,525 since Monday to a total of 68,634 persons, or 59.6% of the county’s population. 794 persons were added to those fully vaccinated. That now totals 64,983 persons, or 56.4% of the population.
