Matias Montemayor Jr., age 70, of Sheboygan, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at St.
Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan late in the evening on Saturday, November 6, 2021.
Matias was born on November 13, 1950, to Matias Sr. and Piedad Montemayor in Weslaco, Texas. When
Matias was a child, he and his family relocated to Sheboygan. He attended Farnsworth Middle School
and South High School. Matias later earned his GED and associate degree in Marketing. He worked for
several different newspapers, including the Sheboygan Press and Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. In his
later years, Matias worked for the City of Sheboygan Metro System driving bus. He retired from driving
bus on June 20, 2021, to spend more time with family.
On November 10, 1979, Matias was united in marriage to Pamela Branstiter at the First Assembly of God
in Sheboygan. Together, they raised three children, Gina, Melecia, and Matias. Later in life, Matias and
Pamela reconnected with Matias’ son, Jamie.
Matias will be dearly missed. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He
would do whatever he could to make you feel supported and loved. Matias was a dedicated Christian.
The most important parts of his life were his family and living for God.
Matias will be forever remembered by the love of his life and wife of nearly 42 years, Pamela; children,
Melecia (Eric Sargent) Montemayor, Matias Montemayor III, and Jamie (Rebecca) Haas; grandchildren,
Jordan, Isaac (Lina), Maxswell, and Calum, Aiden and Matias IV, Ramiro Jr., Antonio, Brandi, and Aliyah,
and Caleb and Esabel; siblings, Maria, Robert (Loida), Sandra (Bruce), David, Daniel (Deb), and Ricardo
(Jody); many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Matias is preceded in death by his daughter, Gina Rios; and parents, Matias Sr. and Piedad.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Matias at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Zimmer-
Westview Funeral Home in Howards Grove with Pastor Andy Shanholtz officiating. A visitation will be
held for Matias at the funeral home from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Social distancing will be encouraged, and
masks are optional.
