Shirley Payne

Shirley A. Payne, age 87, of Kiel, passed away on October 11, 2021.
She was born on August 12, 1934 in Milwaukee, WI, a daughter of the late Emil and Gertrude
(Roesch) Baseler. She graduated from Milwaukee Custer High School and served in United
States Air Force from 1954-1955.
On June 4, 1955, she married David Payne in Euclid, Ohio. The couple moved to Kiel in
September of 1988 after serving as Missionary’s with New Tribes Mission in Bolivia- South
America. David preceded her in death on September 10, 2011.
Shirley enjoyed quilting, sewing, cross-stitch, and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include: Four Children: Peg (Bob) Kulp of Huntersville, N.C., John (Andrea) Payne of
Sheboygan, Patti (Nathan) Burkart of Plymouth and Karen Taylor of Sheboygan; Six
Grandchildren: Lisa (Tyler) Drummond, Megan & Heather Burkart, Ariel, Bill, and Christine
Taylor; Three Great-grandchildren: Kaelyn and Ian Jank and Eli Henderson; Brother: Arthur
(Maureen) Baseler; Sister-in-law: Lois Hoover; and she is also survived by many nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother: Neal Baseler, and brother-in-law:
Robert Hoover.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday (October 14, 2021) at the Suchon Funeral Home in
Plymouth. Visitation will take place from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, with a prayer service to follow at 6:00
PM. Dr. Paul Thyren, Pastor of the Church, will officiate. Inurnment will be in Valhalla
Cemetery in Milwaukee.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Shirley’s name for “Faith Comes By
Hearing,” an audio bible ministry to the nations.
