The number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Sheboygan County increased by 10 with Monday’s semi-weekly update by the Division of Public Health. This raises the death toll for the pandemic to 166. In its release, the Department added that due to the process to confirm a COVID-19 death, it may take several days to weeks before the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and Sheboygan County are able to report that death to the community, and this may cause an influx of COVID-19 deaths being reported such as is seen today.
Of the 166 victims, one was between 10 and 19 years old, three were in their 30s, five in their 40s, eight in their 50s, twenty-five in their 60s, forty-one in their 70s, and eighty-three were 80 or older.
Since Friday, 28 new positives were confirmed and 91 persons recovered. Along with the 10 now deceased, a net drop of 73 active cases was recorded, now numbering 686.
While 11 persons were admitted for hospitalization since Friday, deaths and discharges numbered 13, and the patient population is currently 21. 815 persons have been hospitalized here at some time during the pandemic.
Sheboygan County is now experiencing a “high” level of transmission, with a 7-day average of 294.78 cases per 100,000 persons, and a 10.91% positivity rate.
At least one dose of vaccine has now been administered to 55.6% of the county population, amounting to 64,075 persons, while 53.4%, or 61,557 have completed their series of shots. Vaccinations last week totaled 723, the lowest single-week number so far this year.
Sheboygan County will have regularly scheduled COVID testing at the ADRC parking lot at 650 Forest Avenue in Sheboygan Falls beginning Thursday, October 14th from 12 Noon – 4 PM. Besides the regular Thursday schedule, the tests will then also be offered Saturdays from 1-5 and Mondays through Wednesdays from 8 AM until 2 PM. Administered by health service provider Curative, up to 350 self-administered tests will be available each day at the drive-through site. The test is a shallow nasal PCR test for all ages. Once the patient completes the test, the patient seals their test within a secure container and returns it to be processed in the lab. Results are then available from 1-2 days upon receipt with no out-of-pocket costs to the patient. More information is available online at curative.com
