Arlene L. Thomas age 85 of Sheboygan passed away early Saturday morning October 9, 2021. Arlene was born August 9, 1936 in Sheboygan to the late Edwin and Mildred (Hinze) Butgereit. She attended Sheboygan schools and was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1954. Arlene then furthered her education and graduated from Deaconess School of Nursing in 1957. She was employed as a Registered Nurse in Colorado and Madison, WI prior to moving to Sheboygan and retiring from St. Nicholas Hospital after 44 years of service. Arlene had a heart of gold and had a passion for caring for and helping other people. Arlene married Judson Thomas September 16, 1961; he preceded her in death December 26, 1998. Arlene was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, volunteered at Bethesda Thrift Store for years, Salvation Army Health Clinic and helped make Braille Bibles for the blind. She also enjoyed spending time with her family at the Cabin in Rhinelander, WI for many years.
Arlene is survived by two daughters Julie (Brian) Versey and Cynthia (James) Kuehlmann both of Sheboygan, son David (Erika) Thomas of Maine grandchildren: Jacob Willadsen, Nadia Versey, Jessica (Josh) Kasinskas, Brittney (Hayden) Serwe, Judson Thomas, Holly (Francisco) Miguel, April Pirwitz, great- grandchildren: Eden, Henry, Gideon, Esperanza, Mirella, Alyssia, Adriana, Malakai and Silus, a sister Janet Part of Madison and nieces, nephews and friends.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Judson, daughter Susan Gurley and a grandson Joshua Gurley.
Family and friends may gather at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan on Saturday October 16, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Patrick Niles from Bethlehem Lutheran Church will officiate. Entombment will follow at Gardens of Peace Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
