Emmett D. Wessel, 73 of Sheboygan passed away Sunday September 26 th , 2021 with his family at his
side following a short battle with cancer.
Emmett was born on August, 18 th 1948 in Greenwood to the late Adolph and Lorinda (Horn) Wessel. He
attended Greenwood schools and excelled in Basketball earning recognition as one of the best in his
conference and interest from some college programs. He graduated High School in 1966 and decided to
pursue studies in what was then a relatively new field; computer sciences; at Wausau Technical
Institute. Following his graduation, he worked for Allen Bradley in Milwaukee before moving to
Sheboygan to work for Heritage Insurance. He began working for Strategic Data Systems in 1984 and
was proud of the contributions he made to S.D.S.’s growth. He finished his career with Rockford Mutual
as a Senior Software Consultant before his retirement in 2011.
In retirement, Emmett enjoyed traveling with his wife of 28 years Kathy and they enjoyed many trips
together. He also very much enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing in northern Wisconsin
with his sons, grandchildren, and, more recently his great-grandchildren. Even though he was ill, he was
motivated to make the family’s annual fishing trip to St. Germain this August. He also loved football and
of course the Packers. This will mark the first year since 1984 he will not be participating in the Football
Prognostication Contest having won the vaunted Bean Pot Trophy 6 times.

step-sons William (Sally) Zeinemann of Middleton and Robert (Rachael Wyman) Zeinemann of Seattle,
