Ronald A. Schoerner, age 81, was invited to join his heavenly Father on September 24, 2021.
Born in Sheboygan on December 9, 1939, he is the son of the late Arthur Schoerner and Viola
Sternard.
Ron attended local public schools and was a proud graduate of Central High School in 1958
where he was remembered by classmates as “a man of few words”. After graduation, Ron
enlisted in the U.S Air Force and honorably served from 1958 to 1963 as a Security Police
Officer at Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento, California.
It was during his time in the Air Force that Ron met the love of his life, Manetta Fischer, and
they were united in marriage on November 4, 1961 in Carson City, Nevada. Inseparable from
that point on, Ron and “Nita” remained partners in life spanning the next 60 years.
An active outdoorsman, Ron could often be found fishing local waters, hunting various seasonal
game, golfing the many central Wisconsin courses or just tossing horseshoes in the local city
leagues. When weather and age provided its challenges, Ron then became actively involved in
local bowling and billiard leagues as well as a regular gamer at local bingo halls. Known for his
luck, Ron’s distinctive “BINGO!” call-out became well recognized and was to blame for many
spilled drinks and heartbeat skips!
Surviving Ron is his ever-lovely wife Nita, eight children: Bruce of Fayetteville, NC, Terri of
Atlanta, GA, Tim of Sedro Woolley, WA, Stacey of Atlanta, GA, Brian of Cocoa, FL, Robby of
Williamsburg, VA, Kelly of Neenah, WI, and Chad of Sheboygan. Ron is also survived by five
brothers: Arthur Schoerner of Ocala, FL, John Schoerner of Plymouth, WI, Randy Schoerner of
Shawano, WI, Randy Sternard of Plymouth, WI, Terry Sternard of Clarksville, TN, and two
sisters: Toby Mersberger of Sheboygan and Wendy Kolenc of Elkhart Lake, WI. Ron was
preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Mamie Schoerner, sister Dorothy, and grandson
Jarrett.
A memorial service will be held for Ron at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12 th
Street in Sheboygan on October 1, 2021, with visitation beginning at 11:00am and a brief service
at 12:00pm. The Schoerner family would like to welcome Ron’s friends and family for a post-
service luncheon at Al and Al’s Steinhaus following the memorial service.
A memorial fund will be established on Ron’s behalf with proceeds to benefit the Sharon S.
Richardson Hospice Center of Sheboygan in recognition of the dignified and heartfelt care Ron
received at the facility as he made his final transition. The Schoerner family is eternally grateful
for the excellent care provided by the caring and professional staff.
