David Connors, age 91, of Plymouth, WI, passed away peacefully in a chair in his backyard garden on
Wednesday, September 15, 2021. The flower gardens were treasured by Mom and Dad, and it appears
as though Mom came back to take him home.
He was born in Columbus, WI, a son of the late Frank and Bridgetta (Doherty) Connors. David is a child of
the Great Depression, and the lessons learned stayed with him and guided him all his life. David
graduated from Columbus High School and attended UW Madison, where he earned his BS in Dairy
Science in 1952.
On April 19, 1952, he married Geraldine “Gerri” Lottes at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Madison. She
preceded him in death on June 5, 2015. Dave and Gerri enjoyed 63 wonderful years together. They
spent all of those 63 years as each other’s best friend. They lived and loved and believed in family. They
invested time and effort in making sure we knew our extended family, and in making sure that their own
family stuck together. Some of our most treasured family memories are western camping trips to
Yellowstone and Jackson Hole, the Black Hills, Glacier National Park and Banff in Canada and a trip to the
Pacific Northwest and the West Coast. Dave and Gerri poured their hearts into our family trips and
drove family ties deep into their children's way of life. Their efforts are revealed in their children’s long
and strong marriages and their grandchildren's adventurous spirits.
Mom and Dad taught us how to deal with adversity in the way they helped Linda live a full life before
God called her home at age 22. Mom and Dad knew our youngest sister Linda suffered from Cystic
Fibrosis when she was just an infant. They kept this to themselves and led the children to believe that
Linda had a simple dietary need. This allowed all of us, Linda included, to live a normal life for as long as
possible. Linda was a teenager before the disease became more present in her life and caused Mom and
Dad to tell us all what Linda was dealing with. Instead of treating her as fragile, we became her team.
Straight out of Mom and Dad’s playbook. For all of Linda’s life they knew that they would be losing a
child; but it wasn’t about them. It was about Linda.
After retirement David turned to carpentry; with his shop-smith in his basement he completely built
new cabinets for his kitchen. Those cabinets are 25 years old now and still look great. He also built beds
for some grandchildren that are already being passed down to the next generation. Other retirement
events included a week-long rafting trip down the Colorado with Mom; ending in Las Vegas. (so which
was the real gamble?) They traveled to and greatly enjoyed Ireland and Germany.
David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved spending time with his
family, wood working, gardening, camping, bowling and traveling. David was an inspirational figure and
lived to enrich the lives around him. We remain blessed to have him in our lives.
David served in the United States Army from 1952-1954. During his service he worked in the Eisenhower
White House in the Signal Corps.
David worked at Borden Foods almost his entire career starting in a Management Training Program in
New York then built his career in positions in New Jersey, Maine, New London WI, Grafton North
Dakota, and then Plymouth WI, where he retired in 1992.
David was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth for 50 years. He was also a
member of Knights of Columbus, Lions Club and the Rotary Club.

great-grandchildren: Tiffany, Dylan, and Dustin Humphrey, Adeline Steiner, and Georgie Wisman; and
