A federal grand jury in Milwaukee has issued additional child pornography charges against a former police chief from neighboring Calumet County.
The indictment shows that Calumet and Brown County law enforcement executed a search warrant at the home of Alexander Bebris of Denmark on August 20th, found him in possession of child pornography, and arrested him. Bebris had been free while appealing a 60 month sentence from a November 2020 conviction for distribution of child pornography. That appeal was denied by the Seventh Circuit Court this past July, and Bebris is now being charged as a repeat offender.
If convicted of the new charge, Bebris faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years, and up to 30 years of imprisonment, which would be served consecutive with the earlier 5-year sentence.
