Some major road projects – and their major inconveniences – are now either done or nearly so as announced on Wednesday.
In the City of Sheboygan a stretch of Calumet Drive and North 14th Street between Erie and Saemann Avenues has reopened to two-way traffic, and according to City Engineer Kevin Jump, only a few lane reductions will be needed while sanitary and storm sewer repairs move forward.
The State DOT, meanwhile, has announced the completion of work that had thousands of drivers dealing with daily disruptions in southern Sheboygan County.
The project to improve about 7-1/2 miles of I-43 with new asphalt, shouldering, culverts and beam guards is finished after over 4 months and $8 million worth of work. Part of that funding also paid for resurfacing Highway 32 between the Interstate and the Village of Cedar Grove, where the Union Pacific Railroad also replaced their crossing. Mark Kantola of the DOT said that project finished on-time and in-budget.
