A noon groundbreaking ceremony scheduled today will launch the newest playground coming to Sheboygan.
The Above & Beyond Children’s Museum is adding its “Purple Octopus Playground”, an ADA-accessible area for children of all abilities, to the greenspace adjacent to the north side of the building on North 8th Street. The 90-foot by 47-foot, underwater themed playground is intended to compliment the Happiness Project Mural that covers the north wall of the museum, and is made possible by pledge donations that are still being welcomed.
Installation of the playground equipment is planned for this October, while the pouring of a rubber surface and landscaping will complete Sheboygan’s only downtown playground in the Spring of 2022.
