Charles R. Lett, 82, of the town of Plymouth passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday,
December 23, 2020.
Charles was born on January 20, 1938 in Washington D.C. a son to Adrian and Gladys (King) Lett. He
graduated from Suitland High School in Maryland. While in the service stationed in Sault Ste. Marie he
traveled with a friend to Sheboygan and met Joyce Mentink while roller skating. He and Joyce were
united in marriage on January 10, 1959. They resided in the Washington D.C./Maryland area prior to
moving to the Plymouth area. After 59 years of marriage Joyce preceded him in death on September 10,
2018. Charles was a journeyman machinist working at various companies in the area including Holden
Machine and Garton Toy Company. Charles had a variety of interests and enjoyed woodworking,
cooking, fishing, watching westerns on TV, family visits but most of all enjoyed his many camping trips
with Joyce and family throughout the years.
Charles was an Army veteran serving stateside during the Vietnam era.
Charles is survived by his daughter Pamela Carlson (friend, Kevin) of Plymouth, his son, Ronald (Teresa)
Lett of Elkhart Lake, two granddaughters, Lisa Carlson of Sheboygan and Nicole Lett (friend, Craig) of
Green Bay; two great grandchildren, Caleb Lawrenz and AiJada Williams; his brother, Robert Lett of
Westminster, MD and his sister, Ruth Jenkins of Maryland. Nieces, nephews and other family members
further survive. Along with his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah,
brothers, Stanley Lett and Russell Lett and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wilmer and Dorothy
Mentink.
A funeral service for Charles will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, December 30 at Wittkopp Funeral and
Cremation Service, Plymouth. Family and friends may visit with social distancing being observed and
masks to be worn at the funeral home, 123 South St, Plymouth on Wednesday from 10 AM until the
time of service at 11 AM. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Plymouth. A further
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
