SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – In-person classes in the Sheboygan Area School District ended temporarily last Friday, but notification letters about the COVID-19 outbreak did not, as reporting its recent discovery in affected schools has become a daily event.
Parents of students at Sheboygan Leadership Academy, Grant Elementary and North High School received letters on Monday; parents of students at Wilson, James Madison and Cooper Elementary Schools along with Urban and Horace Mann Middle Schools and South High School received letters on Tuesday, and on Wednesday notices went to parents of Longfellow Elementary and North High students that COVID-19 had been detected there. Virtual classes in Sheboygan will help control the spread for now, but in-person classes are scheduled to resume on November 2nd.
Not all districts in the county make their notifications available publicly. For example, notifications sent to Plymouth School District parents aren’t posted on its website, however they do publish statistics that indicate that over the past week, 12 positive cases were found and 114 persons were quarantined in the district. And in the case of the Cedar Grove-Belgium district, a dashboard indicates that 3 staff were positive and 6 were quarantined, while 5 students tested positive and 94 have been quarantined so far this school year.
