MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Wisconsin reported its fewest new confirmed coronavirus cases in two weeks on Monday as the total number of tests also fell.
The state Department of Health Services said 590 people tested positive for coronavirus, while there were 6,356 negative tests. The number of new cases was the lowest since July 13, when 494 people tested positive.
Monday’s 8.5% positive rate was down from Sunday’s 9.6%.
The state also reported one new death on Monday, bringing the total to 893.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 49,417 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 823,905 negative tests.
DHS considers 37,971 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
Wisconsin hospitals have not updated the number of COVID-19 patients since Friday. A note on the Wisconsin Hospitals Association’s website says the group is making changes to accommodate new data collection and reporting requirements from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
