SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) – The daily report on the coronavirus pandemic impact in Sheboygan County is revealing the progressively growing picture of a population on guard…and a rising toll.
While Governor Evers’ “Safer At Home” directive, and federal guidelines try to convince people to stay home except for essential purposes, statistics reveal the fact that a significant public health threat is living up to expectations and that the COVID-19 coronavirus must be taken seriously.
Tuesday’s update from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health reports that 12 positive cases of COVID-19 have been recorded within the county. 6 of those cases have recovered while the other six remain active. Two of those active cases are now hospitalized. All other cases were able to be dealt with through home isolation and did not become life-threatening. The conditions of the two hospitalized were not revealed.
Health Officer for the County DPH Starrlene Grossman had just told a special Monday session of the Sheboygan Common Council that all cases of record at that time had been in home isolation and that neither local hospital was housing any coronavirus case in their ICU.
Many have sought to find out exactly where in the county the cases were found, a point made by Alderman Ryan Sorenson. Grossman responded that they are spread throughout the County in various jurisdictions. When the point was further pursued by Alderman Jim Bohren, Grossman responded that the information they share is what is needed to protect the health of the public. Police Chief Christopher Domagalski later added that with the number of cases we have, it doesn’t matter which community it is in. He said that we should treat the cases as if it were happening in all our communities, because: “…if they’re not right now, they’re going to be very soon.”
