A stop for a vehicle equipment violation in Fond du Lac ended after a high-speed chase and subsequent arrest of the driver.
A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy made the stop on Johnson Street in the central part of the city at around 9:30 Sunday night, and the driver refused two orders to exit the vehicle before speeding away westward on Johnson.
The chase reached 70 MPH but ended less than a mile away where the vehicle was boxed in by law enforcement, enabling the arrest of the 37-year-old Marathon woman behind the wheel.
Officers found contraband near the initial stop, and charges of Possessing a Controlled Substance were added to those of Felony Fleeing and Eluding, Obstructing and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
