SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Two more residents of Sheboygan County have become victims of COVID-19 since Monday. One was a person in their 50s – the first death in that age group – and the other in their 70s. That brings to 12 the death toll here since the first were recorded in early April. By age group, one victim was in their 40s, one was in their 50s, three were in their 60s, five were in their 70s and two were 80 or older.
Nine more positive tests for COVID-19 were received since Monday, just under 3% of the 317 tests returned. Another 14 recovered, lowering the active case load to 117. Eight persons are hospitalized in the county for treatment of their symptoms.
12,266 test returns were recorded in Wisconsin since Monday, and 11% of those, or 1,348, were positive. That brings the 7-day running average of positive returns down to 14%. Ten more deaths since Monday raise the state toll to 1,220; that’s 1.3% of all who’ve experienced the disease. 7% of all cases have been hospitalized with the addition of another 56 persons since Monday. The current hospital population of COVID-19 cases numbers 306, with another 106 persons hospitalized but awaiting confirmation of the coronavirus as the cause. 87 persons are in the ICU, and 320 are on ventilators to support life.
