The method by which the Sheboygan City Attorney is selected is due to be changed when the Common Council meets tonight.
Among the items on the agenda is a Direct Referral Charter to the Finance and Personnel Committee that would do away with an elected City Attorney, and replace the process with being appointed by a majority vote of the Common Council. The City Attorney would then hold office for an indefinite term, subject to removal by the Common Council. Such removal would be at the pleasure of the Council and could be done without cause by a three-fourths majority vote.
Tonight’s meeting is at 6 PM at City Hall.
