With the Independence Day holiday behind us, the summer road repair schedule returns to full-swing in Sheboygan County.
Travelers on I-43 have, no doubt, noticed portable road signs indicating lane restrictions coming this week. While the individual projects weren’t detailed by the Wisconsin DOT, a blanket announcement of pavement markings and bridge deck sealing operations was given, indicating that various locations will see work crews in action this week. Flagging and temporary lane shifts of a few hours duration will be used for the markings of long lines and special pavement markings, and night operations will be used at busier locations. As for the bridge deck sealing, roadways will remain open with flagging and lane closures, but it’s also possible that brief ramp closures will be required – but those would be announced in advance.
The Highway 28 bridge in Cascade is heading toward completion while grading crews will work on cross culverts this week. Highway 28 is detoured around Cascade while those operations continue.
Highway 32 work in Cedar Grove is complete, but work on four new box culverts and eight culvert crossings continues. This week, one of those box culverts just north of Gibbsville is nearly complete while the floor of another just south of Wilson-Lima Road is scheduled to be poured this week. That project currently detours traffic using County Highway V and I-43.
