The smell of natural gas prompted the closure of a road through the Village of Cascade on Monday afternoon.
A mid-afternoon release from the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office alerted residents there that they’d closed about one mile of State Highway 28 between County Road “E” and Wisconsin Avenue due to a gas leak.
The risk to the public was already reduced as all but local traffic had already been detoured due to construction work. It was not said how long people had to avoid that area, but no further reports of trouble were received.
