Several rounds of severe thunderstorms rolled through Sheboygan County overnight beginning at around 10 PM and not giving up until well into Friday morning. A Flash Flood Warning was issued for most of Sheboygan County, effective until 9 AM, and by 7 AM 2.67” of rain was reported at the Sheboygan County Airport, with locally higher amounts indicated by National Weather Service radar.
Lightning was nearly non-stop by 3 AM with Lightningmaps.org measuring 257 strokes per minute. Power outages were widely scattered by morning with customers around Greenbush, Waldo, Cascade, Random Lake and Cedar Grove among those reported by WeEnergies. A downed tree was reportedly in a roadway near Elkhart Lake by social media which also reported that South Pier Drive and Illinois Avenue in Sheboygan had become flooded.
Thunderstorms were forecast to exit later this morning and mostly sunny skies were expected for the afternoon. The Labor Day weekend forecast was absent of rain, with highs mostly in the mid-upper 70s and lows in the 60s.
