It’s no secret that the people of Iowa could use some prayers right about now. The high winds after a derecho destroyed everything from houses to farmland.
USDA’s Risk Management Agency found that 57 counties in Iowa were right in the path of the storm and 36 of those were hit the hardest. All together, 8.2 million acres of corn and 5.6 million of soybeans were impacted by the wind in Iowa alone.
They also took a look at grain storage and found that over 57 million bushels in storage were either very badly damaged or completely destroyed. Co-ops in the state are estimating that it’ll cost over $300 million to get rid of the grain bins, replace them, or even to just fix them.
Thouoghts and prayers go out to the whole state of Iowa and everyone else that’s being impacted by the storm.
