Karen (Mueller) Degner, age 63, of Plymouth, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023
surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born on March 29, 1960 in Plymouth, a daughter of the late Michael and Susan Mueller. Karen
attended grade school at St John the Baptist School and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1978.
She married Mark Degner on May 14, 1988.
Karen worked for the State of Wisconsin, Department of Military Affairs as a Soldier and Family as a
Readiness Specialist. She was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was awarded the
National Public Spirit Award. She was also a member of the Forty and Eight – Cabane, was a long term
volunteer of Gift of Life, was one of the founding members of the Punkin Chunkin for a Cause, and was a
member of the Molly Pitcher Association – Awarded the Molly Pitcher Award. She was honored as
Professional Business Woman of the Year by the City of Plymouth.
As a civilian through the US Army, Karen was awarded the Commander’s Award for Public Service and
the Outstanding Civilian Service Medal.
She is survived by: Husband, Mark Degner of Plymouth; brothers, Bernard “Bernie” Mueller of Black
River Falls; Robert “Bob” (Linda) Mueller of Plymouth; Karl (Janice) Mueller of Plymouth; Jeff (Sandi)
Sheridan of Plymouth and sister, Sara (Terry) Boesch of Chilton; step-mother, Corinne Mueller of
Plymouth. She is further survived by nieces and nephews: Caitlin (Adrian) Avina of Kiel; Megan (Scott)
Koenig of Oostburg; Zyta Mueller (fiancé Colin Kildea) of Sheboygan; Zayla Mueller (special friend Tristan
Beauchamp) of Sturgeon Bay; Lexi and Matthew Sheridan of Plymouth; Kelsey Boesch (fiancé Mike
Schwartz) of New Holstein; Kaitlyn and Chase Owens of Chilton and Kayde Boesch of Chilton and special
friend Janice Struve of Plymouth; along with many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Michael and Susan Mueller.
Karen dedicated her life to veterans and their families. Karen had a great heart and was always putting
others first. She was a fighter and always rooting for the underdog. She was the best in all of us and
made us better just by knowing her and she will be greatly missed.
Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
