With wintry temperatures just days away, Alliant Energy has pumped millions into a fund that helps those in need stay warm. This is the third consecutive year that Alliant has donated $4 million to its Hometown Care Energy Fund. The money is split evenly between Wisconsin and Iowa.
The Senior Manager for Customer Support Services at Alliant, Angie Leyden-Van Gundy, said that those needing financial assistance covering their energy bills should apply now. If approved, a customer could receive up to $500 each year. The fund is available to those meeting the guidelines of the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) which is also available to those needing help with their bills.
The Hometown Care Energy Fund is supported by funds from Alliant Energy shareowners, as well as voluntary contributions from employees, retirees and customers. Leyden-Van Gundy explained that all customer contributions are distributed within the same county to ensure their neighbors have the resources they need.
In Wisconsin, Alliant Energy partners with Energy Services Inc. (ESI) to distribute the funds. Sheboygan County residents can apply at the ESI Service Center located at 2081 Kohler Memorial Drive, Suite 200. They can be contacted at 920–287-7800.
