A man missing since September 15th from his Town of Utica home in Winnebago County remains unaccounted for, and now his wife has passed away during his absence.
65-year-old Wayne Siems was last seen on September 15th when he left without notice and without any personal possessions, except possibly for a handgun that he’d recently purchased – and which couldn’t be found by searchers. Relatives report that such behavior was unusual. Siems’ vehicles were left at the residence, as were medications needed for health issues. An extensive search by multiple units including K9, Drone Team, aircraft, outside K9 teams including cadaver dogs, and patterned grid searches on foot by dozens of officers, firefighters and first responders have been unable to turn up any sign of Siems.
During the past week, Siems’ wife, Sandra, unexpectedly suffered a sudden medical event and passed away with her family at her side.
The Sheriff’s Office offered their condolences to the family, and also thanked the many agencies who assisted in the search, and area home and property owners who allowed deputies onto, and into properties to attempt to locate Mr. Siems.
