SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Another Sheboygan County resident has fallen victim to COVID-19 as reported in Friday’s update from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health. The only information inferred from the report was that the individual was at least 60 years old. That person was one of 2 deaths in Wisconsin since yesterday. In all, 5 persons have died of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County. An additional 7 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19 were received since Thursday, and with 18 recoveries, Friday’s daily summary of the pandemic here listed 108 active cases – two of those hospitalized. With 355 negative test returns, the county’s positive rate was just shy of 2%.
Within the state borders, 880 persons received positive test results since yesterday, comprising 6.6% of all results received. That raises the state’s cumulative total of COVID cases past 40,000 (40,507). 12,527 persons got the good news of a negative result, and of all cases recorded so far, 20.8% remain active.
The Wisconsin DHS indicates that 97 patients out of 333 hospitalized are housed in intensive care units, and the vast majority – 302 – are receiving mechanical ventilation. That leaves over 900 ventilators ready to use. As far as capacity is concerned, of 11,406 total beds, 22% remain available. 10% of Wisconsin COVID-19 cases have required hospitalization so far.
The County Administration today announced that per their weekly (Friday) review of benchmark criteria, The Sheboygan County Safe Restart Plan will remain in Phase Two. Both the Case number and the Activity Level metrics were in the “red”, and available PPE for health care personnel and Tracing capacity are in a “caution” state. Testing capacity and the ability to treat everyone are “green”.
