Wesley B Obbink, 86, of Oostburg,
passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Pine Haven Christian Home in
Sheboygan Falls.
Wes was born on March 25, 1931,
in Town of Holland to Harry and Henrietta (Simmelink) Obbink. He attended Cedar
Grove High School. On June 18, 1952, Wes married Phyllis Huenink at Calvary OPC
in Cedar Grove. Wes served his country in the United States Army from
1952-1954, serving 18 months in Germany. Wes was a Dairy Farmer and enjoyed
farming every day until the very end.
Wes was a member of Calvary
Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove, where he served as an elder,
deacon, trustee, and sang in the Men's Chorus. He was on the board for the
Co-op Exchange, a board member of the Sheboygan County FSA, and a seed dealer
for DeKalb and Lemke farms. Wes was named Sheboygan County Outstanding Farmer
of the Year in 1965. He enjoyed golfing,
playing cards with family, traveling with his wife Phyllis, especially trips to
Florida, Arizona and Europe for their 50th anniversary.
Wes is survived by his wife of 65
years, Phyllis Obbink; son, David (Cindy) Obbink; daughter-in-law, Carla
Obbink; six grandchildren, Jacob (Melissa) Obbink, Samantha Norgel, Ross
(Holly) Obbink, Jo Ellen (Peter) DeHaai, Jaclyn (Steve) Ratajczak, and Melanie Obbink;
ten great-grandchildren, Hayden, Landon, Camryn, Owen, Noah, Levi, Micah,
Isaac, Anne Marie and Carly; brother, Harlan (Marge) Obbink; two
sisters-in-law, Ruth Obbink, and Gertrude Graaskamp. He is further survived by
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Wes was preceded in death by his
son, Brian Obbink; granddaughter, Megan Obbink; parents; brother, Leon Obbink;
parents-in-law, Edwin and Garlie Huenink; and four brothers-in-laws, Carroll
(Ellen) Huenink, LaMonte Huenink, Winifred Graaskamp, and Harold Simmelink.
A funeral service to celebrate
Wes' life will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at 12:30 pm at Calvary
OPC, 136 Union Ave., Cedar Grove with Rev. David Cornette officiating.
Committal prayers and Military Honors will take place at the church with a time
of fellowship and lunch immediately following. Burial will take place at
Presbyterian Cemetery in Cedar Grove.

the family at Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove on Saturday,
December 30, 2017 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 12:30 pm.
A memorial fund is being
established in his name for Oostburg Christian School.
