On Tuesday, May 30 th , 2023, Gene C. Halle, age 82, of Plymouth, passed peacefully at Rocky Knoll.
He was born in Plymouth on May 23, 1941, son of the late Everett and Mary (Carolan) Halle. Gene
attended Plymouth schools and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1959. He participated in
baseball, basketball, track and Pep Club. After high school, Gene served in the United States Navy from
1959-1963 serving on the U.S.S. John W. Weeks 701. He was a Petty Officer 3 rd Class (Store Keeper).
Receiving an Expeditionary Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Medal in his time
of service.
On February 27th, 1965 he married Phyllis Fogle at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth.
They had 4 children together, Dan, Jim, John and Peggy. She preceded him in death on November 9,
1978.
On July 17th, 1981 he married Sharon Mueller at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. They
had 1 child together, Nichole (his little Snoogie).
Gene was employed at Borden’s Foods in Plymouth for 40 years retiring on June 1, 2004.
Gene enjoyed bowling, softball, pitching horseshoes and spending time with his family and friends. He
was also member of the Winooski Bowmen Club. He was very active in planning his high school class
reunions… and yes, angels do have red hair.
Most of you would recognize Red from his daily walks around Plymouth, the place he called home his
whole life.
Survivors include: His loving wife of 42 years, Sharon; Three sons: Daniel (Cathy) Halle of Sheboygan,
James Halle of Sheboygan and John (Shawna) Halle of Plymouth; Two Daughters: Peggy (Tony) Glugla of
Oakfield and Nikki (Jerry) Pearce of Kiel; Eight Grandchildren: Flame (Travis) Pretzer, Devyn (Justin)
Klumpyan, Olivia Rose Halle, Ethan Glugla, Max Halle, Savannah Halle, Brayden Glugla, and Wyatt
Pearce; Two Great Grandchildren: Ashton and Emma.
He is further survived by: His sister: Salli (Roger)Bunge of Plymouth; Brother: Allen Halle of PA; Sisters
and Brothers-in-law: Helen Krebsbach of Sheboygan, Ginny Fogle of Milwaukee, John Prettie of
Plymouth, Diane (Fred) Hengst of Rib Lake, WI, Gary (Sharon) Mueller of Kiel, Myron (Marlene)
Mueller of Kiel, Roger (Kris) Mueller of Kiel, Kathy Mueller of Kiel, and Mike (Sandy) Mueller of
Rockville; As well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Gene was preceded in death by: His parents; Parents-in-law; First wife, Phyllis; Brother, Vernon Halle;
Sister, Sandy Prettie; An infant brother and sister; Brothers-in-law: Clarence, Larry, and Doug Fogle; and
Sister-in-law, Becky Fogle.
Services will be held on Tuesday (June 6, 2023) at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Visitation will
take place from 11:00am – 2:00pm, followed by a short service and military rites at 2:00pm. Burial will
immediately follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Gene’s name.
