Otto A. Kurtz, 90, of Town of Sheboygan, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at his home. He
was born October 20, 1928 in Sheboygan to Otto and Lillian (Sonneman) Kurtz. Otto attended North
High School. He joined the U.S. Army in 1946 and proudly served with Troop A 27 th Construction Crew
in Germany earning the rank of Weapons Crewman 601 and was honorably discharged in August 1947.
On November 1, 1952 he was united in marriage to June R. Heinga in Brillion. She preceded him in
death on November 14, 2009.
Otto worked on construction of High Voltage Lines following his discharge from the military. He then
went on to work as a truck driver for Motor Transport Company and several other companies. He
retired from the Kohler Company.
Otto was an active member of the Teamsters Union 662 and still attended regular meetings and parties.
He was also an active member of the VFW Post 9156. Having a strong faith he was a member of St.
John’s UCC. Otto made many successful hunting trips to Wyoming with his dear friends Claude Craft and
Bob Werbeckas, bringing home a trophy mule deer. He also loved gardening, growing his giant kohlrabi
and giving them to family and friends. He also loved fishing with his family and friends and enjoyed
many trips to Rolling Stone Lake. Otto took great pride in making his beef jerky, homemade sauerkraut
and horseradish and sharing it with his friends. He had a great sense of humor and was known for his
funny sayings and will truly be missed by all who knew him.
Otto is survived by his son Dennis Kurtz of Town of Sheboygan, daughter Diane Greger of Town of
Wilson, grandson, Daniel Inovskis of Sheboygan, sister, Dolores Voight of Sheboygan, special friends
John and Rita Inovskis, his dear friends at the VFW Post 9156 and his beloved dog Rainny. He is further
survived by several nieces, great-nephews, cousins, others and friends. He was preceded in death by his
parents, wife, and brother-in-law Walter Voight.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 4:00 PM at Zimmer-Westview Funeral &
Cremation Care Center, W2132 Garton RD., Sheboygan with Rev. Gregory Whelton officiating. Military
Honors will follow the service. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, January 25,
2019 from 2:00 PM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Otto’s name.
Otto was the BEST Father a kid could ask for, he was always there to help in every way possible. He will
be greatly missed.
