An area meat processor will be able to expand its operations thanks to a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Ag, Trade and Consumer Protection.
D-D Meat Processing of Sheboygan Falls is among the recipients of funds from the 2023 Meat Processor Infrastructure Grant Program that aims to grow Wisconsin’s meat industry and improve the long-term viability of the state’s livestock industry.
Interest in the program was high with 70 applicants requesting a total of $2.8 million. In the end, D-D Meat Processing was one of only eight selected to share in the total of $200,000 granted. D-D plans to invest its funds for refrigeration and industrial tank expansion. Another regional processor, Salchert Meats of St. Cloud, was also among the fortunate. They plan to use their award to provide infrastructure for a long-term sustainability project.
