The 7th round quartet

The Green Bay Packers wrapped up their biggest draft class since they took an even dozen back in 2006, finishing with 13 players over three days.  The 7th round brought a barbershop quartet of prospects.  Defensive back Carrington Valentine of Kentucky came first at pick 232.  The 6-0, 195 pound corner played 35 games for the Wildcats and he led the team with 10 pass break ups and had one pick last season.   The long-armed defender proved hard to get around and he has track star speed to close.   Three picks later Green Bay took a running back.  Lew Nichols III is from Central Michigan.   The Detroit native led the FBS in rushing in 2021 with 1848 yards.  His production dipped last year but he finished his career with 3061 yards in 32 games.  He also caught 71 balls for another 575 yards.  With the 242nd overall choice, the Packers took safety Anthony Johnson Jr. from Iowa State.   He played corner his first 4 years with the Cyclones and moved to safety as a senior, earning second team All Big 12 honors.   The final choice, at 256 was the third receiver drafted, Grant Dubose from Charlotte.  Another big bodied pass catcher able to break tackles, he had 63 receptions last season and was named second team All Conference USA.
