Sheboygan’s beloved Above and Beyond Children’s Museum has announced that it will reopen next week. The museum, which suffered broken water pipes over the Christmas weekend, underwent extensive recovery efforts to repair damage that affected all four floors. And although the $150,000 toll was covered by insurance, the museum went without the admissions revenue that usually keeps it operating. That was replaced by numerous donors and fundraising efforts that helped bridge the gap.
Now, the doors to Above and Beyond are set to open to the public on Tuesday, March 7th, with a Grand Opening Celebration slated from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 12th. That event will feature a balloon drop initially planned for Noon on New Year’s Eve, along with crafting and other special events. Visitors will also be able to explore some new features including new pieces in the Calming Corner, the introduction of Sensory Seekers Backpacks designed for neurodiverse children and individuals, updated public restrooms with new fixtures donated by Kohler Company, and will also find improved safety features and new wall decor. Admission to the public is $8 while members get in for free.
