
Harold J. Holman, 100, of Sheboygan, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Sunny Ridge
Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born September 20, 1922 in Sheboygan to the late John W.
and Sadie (Forman) Holman. Harold graduated from North High School with the Class of 1941. He
joined and proudly served in the US Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945 and was stationed in the South
Pacific. Before joining the Army, Harold worked at Hokins Liquor in Sheboygan and Lakeland Mfg. On
November 13, 1947 he was united in marriage to Rose S. Shalefsky in Brooklyn, NY. They celebrated
53 years of marriage before Rose preceded him in death on August 25, 2001. Once he returned from the
service, Harold worked at Montgomery Wards, and owned and operated Harold’s Corner Bar on 8
th and
Penn Ave. in Sheboygan for 10 years. In 1963 he went to work for Security Bank as a customer service
representative until his retirement in 1985.
Harold had a strong faith, and cherished being a member of Beth El Temple, serving as President for
many years, and taking part in various other roles in the Temple. He loved the time he spent there with
his family and friends. He was also a member of the Sheboygan North High School Booster Club, and
VFW Post 1230. Harold loved his family and spending time with them creating many lasting and
cherished memories. He also enjoyed the poker club with his friends.
Harold is survived by his daughters, Maureen (Thomas) Kellner, Hillary Holman, and Terri Holman,
granddaughter Brittan Kellner, granddog Asia Rose, nephew Dave (Mary Lou) Fiedelman, niece
Charlene (Jim) Morrow, and his great nieces and nephews; Brooke (Nate), Blake (Alyssa), Brette, and
Hannah. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Later in life Harold was blessed to be called Papa Harold by Janaya, Jameson, Jonah, Margaret and
Eddy. They brought him great joy over the years.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister Eleanor (Howard) Fiedelman, brother-in-law
Harry (Pauline) Shale, and sisters-in-law, Shirley (Norman) Goldenberg and Lillian (Jack) Turken.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 9:30 AM at Ballhorn Chapels Funeral &
Cremation Care Center, 1201 N. 8
th St. Harold will be laid to rest next to Rose on their 75
th wedding
anniversary in the Hebrew Cemetery following the service. Relatives and friends may visit with the family
on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 8:30AM until the time of service at the FUNERAL HOME. If you are
unable to join the family for Harold’s service, it will be livestreamed on his obituary page on the funeral
home website.
