Janice Helen Ongna entered into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father through faith in His son Jesus Christ on Friday, September 23, 2022. She was 89 years old.
Janice was born December 24, 1932 in the town of Lima, daughter of Clarence and Helen (Pietenpol) Ongna. She attended school in Sheboygan Falls, graduating from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1950. She went on to work as a secretary at Kohler Co. for 37 years, retiring in 1987.
A member of First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls, Janice enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Bible Classes in her earlier years.
A skilled musician and music lover, Janice was an organist at several area churches for over 50 years. She was an active member of the Sheboygan Music Club and the Milwaukee Chapter of the American Guild of Organist for many years. In her retirement, she did volunteer work at the Sheboygan Falls Food Pantry and local nursing homes.
Janice is survived by: sister-in-law Maybritt Ongna of Escondido, CA; nephew Robert Ongna of Eau Claire, WI; nieces: Barbara Ongna of Plymouth, MN and Michelle (Ed) Cunningham, Roxanne (David) Weller and Jilane (Jack) Hawkins, all of CA. She is further survived by several great-nieces and nephews and dear friends, Don and Katie Conto.
Janice is now celebrating a joyous reunion in Heaven with her parents, brothers Calvin (Nicki) and Eugene Ongna along with a multitude of others already with Jesus.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00PM noon on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Wenig Funeral Home, 711 Broadway in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Dan Babbel officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00AM-12:00PM. She will be laid to rest beside her parents at Hingham Cemetery.
Janice often said she knew two things for sure: “I am a great sinner and I have a great Savior.”
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Campus Life or Good News Jail and Prison Ministry.
