The COVID-19 Pandemic, perhaps awaiting a formal demotion of status sometime soon by many accounts, is still being monitored, especially as the indoor season so well-suited to the spread of airborne diseases such as COVID and influenza, descends upon us.
Public health agencies locally, state, and nationwide, have been encouraging the public to become immunized against the expected influenza outbreak, and also to protect against the Omicron variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus responsible for COVID-19. They emphasize that updated COVID-19 Boosters that protect against Omicron are available to those 12 and older, and that those 50 and older and/or immunocompromised should especially seek the new boosters, and also that the flu shot can be given at the same time.
The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health is also offering Monkeypox Vaccine to eligible populations by appointment only. Details were available through the weekly COVID-19 update page at Sheboygancounty.com
