(WHBL) – It’s not just Darrell Brooks Jr. A new report from Fox6 in Milwaukee says nearly one-in-five homicide or attempted homicide suspects in Milwaukee County were out on bail when they committed their new crime.
The station reviewed 117 homicide and attempted homicide cases from January of this year through the beginning of this month, and found that 25 suspects were free on bond for a pending felony charge before they killed or tried to kill someone. More than half of those suspects had been charged with violent felonies, and a handful of them saw bails of less than one thousand-dollars.
Brooks was freed on a thousand dollars bail just days before police say he sped through Waukesha’s Christmas parade last month, killing six and injuring more than 50.
