While COVID-19 continues to propagate within Sheboygan County’s population, statistics measuring new vs recovered cases keep the active case count within a narrow range according to the latest semi-weekly report from the County Division of Public Health.
Since last Thursday, 188 confirmed test results were received by the DPH, countered by 186 recoveries, resulting in a net gain of 2 in the active case count, which now enumerates 429 cases active within the county’s population. 15,016 cases have now been recorded here during the pandemic. Total hospitalizations so far, at 744, increased by 12, but when offset by recoveries, declined over the past week by 5, to 14 patients.
The Wisconsin Hospital Association on Thursday reported a day-to-day increase of 32 COVID-19 patients, with 1,071 currently being treated.
The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health on Thursday cited a “high” transmission level, with a 10.45% positivity rate per test, and a 7-day case average of 176.87 per 100,000 persons.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services indicates 15 facility-wide investigations underway in Sheboygan County. 7 involve non-healthcare workplaces, 6 are among long-term care facilities. There is 1 educational facility,and 1 “other” setting currently under observation for outbreaks of COVID-19. The nursing homes with investigations were identified as Morningside Health Services, Rocky Knoll, and Sheboygan Health Services.
As for vaccinations, 54%, or 62,299 Sheboygan County residents, have received at least one dose of vaccine, an increase of 111 since Wednesday. 59,003 persons were fully vaccinated as of Thursday morning, 194 more than on Wednesday.
