COVID-19 made advances on Sheboygan County in the last day, as the number of active cases and hospitalizations both rose. 47 more positive test results outnumbered the 23 recoveries recorded since Monday to add 24 active cases, and of 14,759 instances of COVID-19 that have now been recorded in Sheboygan County, 422 are now being monitored by the Division of Public Health. 11 persons are now hospitalized, compared with 9 recorded on Monday.
Full vaccinations within the county rose by 109 since Monday, with 58,025 persons, or 50.3% of the county population so treated. 53.2%, or 61,355 persons have received at least one dose, an increase of 94 persons in the last day.
Advocate Aurora Health reported on Tuesday that the number of COVID-19 patients hospitalized under their care has risen by 5.9% over the past week as the Delta variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus continues to spread primarily among people who have not been vaccinated. In Wisconsin, the 168 patients now being treated amount to a 0.6% change in the last week, but a 190% increase compared to a month ago. The number of children being treated throughout the system has increased 50% in the last month. Advocate Aurora says that as a health system, they’re treating approximately 10 times as many COVID-19 patients in the hospital as were being treated during July’s low point.
