A Port Washington man is fighting for his life after the trench he was working in collapsed.
The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office reports that 24-year-old Brandon Heinen, an employee of the Village of Fredonia Public Works Department, was working in a trench to install pipes when the sidewall of the trench collapsed on top of him, leaving him buried chest-high.
The man was removed by teams that responded from across Ozaukee County, from as far as the City of Milwaukee, and included the City and County of Sheboygan Fire Department Joint Technical Rescue Team.
The man was flighted to Froedtert Hospital for treatment of crush related injuries.
