Delphina Cecelia Wondra “Del”, 89 of Glenbeulah passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the
Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center.
Del was born on February 25, 1932 in the town of St Peter in Fond du Lac County a daughter to the
late Alois and Ida (Lefeber) Schmitz. She graduated from Glenbeulah High School in 1950 and
furthered her education at Lakeshore Technical College to become a nurse’s aide. On June 9, 1951
she was united in marriage to Paul Wondra at St. Fridolin Catholic Church. Del and Paul farmed until
retirement in the town of Greenbush. He preceded her in death on January 31, 2010. She also
worked as a nurse’s aide at Valley Manor.
Del was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and previously St Cloud Catholic Church.
She devoutly served in the Christian Mothers organization while her children were in grade school.
Delphina was a nurturer. She found purpose in caring for her family and the farm. She loved to grow
strawberries, pickles and flowers, and later in life she spent countless hours crocheting afghans for
friends and family. Her talents included baking – her cinnamon rolls and raspberry pies were
especially famous.
Del is survived by two sons, Eugene (Sandy) Wondra of Oneida, WI and Jeffrey (Lawanna) Wondra of
New Holstein; two daughters, Deborah (Michael) Bruning of Mondovi, WI and Christine (Richard)
Williams of Sheboygan; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two
sisters, Rosie Dirks of Sheboygan and Valeria Schroeder of Glenbeulah. Along with her husband and
parents she was preceded in death by an infant son, Paul Joseph, a daughter, Cynthia, a sister, Mary
Zaletal and her brothers Sylvester, Walter, Marvin and Alois “Fritz” Schmitz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 noon on Saturday, June 26 at St. Fridolin Catholic
Church with Rev. Richard Fleischman as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Aquinas South
Cemetery. Family and friends may gather at the church, 210 Dillingham St. Glenbeulah from 10:30
am until the time of Mass at 12 noon.
In preference to flowers memorials in Del’s name can be directed to the Sharon S. Richardson
Community Hospice.
Del’s family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the residents of Mapledale, the
staff of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and Universal Health Care. Your care and support
will be remembered.
