MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers evened out the series against the St. Louis Cardinals with a 4-1 victory in Milwaukee on Wednesday night.
The teams were tied in the top of the eighth but then the Brewers got the bats going. Travis Shaw doubled in the go-ahead run in a three-run eighth inning. Then Avisail Garcia clubbed a two-run homer later in the eighth for the Brewers, who have won three-of-four on the heels of a six-game skid.
Brandon Woodruff tossed seven and two-third innings of one-run ball. Devin Williams picked up the win – his first of the season – and Josh Hader notched his eighth save.
Tyler O’Neill homered for the second straight night for St. Louis, which saw its four-game winning streak come to an end. Ryan Helsley took the loss.
The rubber match of the three-game series takes place Thursday afternoon. Pregame coverage on WHBL begins at 12:05.
