When it became known that the risk of life-threatening bouts with COVID-19 increases with age, waiting in lines with others at a DMV office was seen as a health risk for drivers 60 and older, and the State of Wisconsin extended the deadline for those drivers to renew their license. That extension for licenses which expired after March 12th of 2020 is now just nine days from ending.
Many still won’t need to go in-person to get their renewal and can do that online, but if you’re 65 or older you must show up at a DMV office prior to next week Friday to complete the process. But you can get a head start online. That will reduce your time waiting in line at the DMV by filling out and submitting your form ahead of time and making the appointment for your required visit.
To do that, head to wisconsindmv.gov/renewDL.
