The deaths of two Sheboygan County residents ages 80 or older were attributed to COVID-19 in Monday’s report from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health, raising the county’s death toll to 125. The two most recent are among sixty-four in their age group to have died from the coronavirus. Twenty-seven others were in their 70s, twenty-two were in their 60s, five were in their 50s, four were in their 40s, two were in their 30s, and one was between 10 and 19 years old.
The 37 positive test returns received since Friday comprised 15.8% of the 234 tests received, and were outnumbered by 103 recoveries to lower the active case count to 256. October 2nd of 2020 was the most recent date that the number of active cases was lower than this, with 238. Hospitalizations dropped by 2 to five patients in the county.
Over the same weekend period as reported in Sheboygan County’s records, the State of Wisconsin added 2,148 new cases of COVID-19, raising the total to 550,369. Only 543 cases were added today, comprising 14.6% of tests returned. One death was added in Monday’s report from the Wisconsin DHS, raising the toll to 6,055. 34 more persons had to be hospitalized in the last 24-hours, and after deaths and discharges, Wisconsin’s COVID patient population rose 2 to 572, 134 of those in ICU beds.
The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health today announced that it has transitioned from the EMResources database of hospitalizations to that of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. The move was made after determining that the latter does a better job of representing Sheboygan County Residents that might also be hospitalized in another county, and gives a more accurate representation of Sheboygan County residents overall.
