Washington County Sheriff
Authorities are on the hunt for a driver who led them on an early Thursday morning high-speed chase in Washington County.
It began with a deputy who clocked a vehicle at over 100 MPH on I-41 in the Village of Germantown as 12:28 AM Thursday. The driver fled an attempted stop and led deputies for over 14 miles through the villages of Germantown, Richfield, Jackson and Slinger as well as the Town of Polk, and coursed through highways, streets, and even across residential yards in the Village of Jackson. The chase was initially called off near a construction site at the State Highway 60/I-41 interchange due to safety, but the vehicle was again spotted near Slinger where tire-deflation devices disabled the vehicle. The driver fled on foot and, despite a search by multiple agencies, drones and a K-9 unit, officials lost track of the suspect who remains on the run.
A examination of the vehicle discovered methamphetamine, as well as the fact that the vehicle may have been stolen from Langlade County. And during attempts to locate the driver officials determined that another vehicle belonging to a construction worker was now missing from the area. The Slinger Police Department is investigating that theft.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has identified a person of interest and the investigation continues.
