(WHBL) – Outbreaks of COVID-19 at two Sheboygan Area District schools have forced temporary transitions to virtual learning. Those two are Pigeon River Elementary School, and the Early Learning Center. There will be no classes at either of those two schools today.
ELC students will begin virtual learning with their classroom teachers tomorrow for the Monday and Tuesday students, and on Thursday the 15th for the Thursday and Friday students.
Pigeon River Elementary students will begin virtual learning with their classroom teachers on Tuesday. Both schools expect to resume their hybrid model classes on Monday the 26th. In both cases, families who had already elected online-only classes will continue uninterrupted.
School administrators say many factors were considered in making the decisions but, most importantly, because of the number of students and staff in quarantine due to close contact with a positive case. And while other children in those schools may have had a low risk of COVD-19 exposure, they don’t need to stay home or quarantine. Still, parents are being asked to monitor for symptoms for the next two weeks.
Besides those two schools, parents of students at Horace Mann Middle School and North and South High Schools were sent notification on Sunday that the coronavirus had been detected there, but no adjustments to learning models was required at this time.
