City of Plymouth voters on Tuesday defeated a referendum that would have increased allocations in order for the Plymouth Police Department to increase its staffing and fleet assets.
Plymouth Police Chief Ken Ruggles reacted to that outcome today, saying that “Yesterday, voters in the City of Plymouth rejected the public safety referendum, which would have enabled the Plymouth Police Department to fund three additional sworn patrol officers, make contractual wage adjustment for current staff, add two additional squad cars, and related equipment for staff.
The City will have conversations about how to address the Police Department’s increasing workload under our current staffing model and keep residents informed on outcomes and next steps.”
